Allen County is located in Southeast Kansas. It is named for William Allen, a politician from Ohio.
The seat and largest city is Iola. The county is rather rural.
It borders Anderson, Linn, Bourbon, Neosho, Wilson, Woodson and Coffey Counties.
Major highways include US-54, US-59 and US-169.
